Zupple: evolution of a game
Zupple started as trivia puzzle based on movie quotes, with a badly made font.
But it soon changed to a music-trivia game.
And then it got shiny.
And so, it needed a better font. Here, without tiles behind the letters.
And here, with tiles.
Problem: the text looked nicer without tiles, but it looked more interactive with tiles.
Solution: only have tiles behimd letters that you can interact with.
Trying different fonts and colour-schemes: now red means selected.
Added a HUD showing the puzzle category and your score.
Added a difficulty rating, here as a number:
Now the difficulty is represented with stars, and there’s a skip button.
Here’s another big change: it’s now a movie-trivia quiz again. And since all the puzzles are movie titles, there’s no need to show the category on the HUD.
Better tiles and the ascii-character placeholder art is removed.
A new layout, colour changes and improved icons.
There are some extreme experiments with tinting the reflection.
But a more subtle tint is found. And the skip button is replaced with a bigger one.
And finally, with a button-prompt added, Zupple is finished.
